A LEADING CONTRACTOR
Stangeland Maskin AS is part of Stangeland Gruppen AS, owned by Olav and Tommy Stangeland, father and son. The company was established in 1959 by Olavs father, Trygve Stangeland from Tjelta in Sola. Today Tommy Stangeland, third generation, is the managing director of Stangeland Maskin with 700 employees. His father Olav is Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in Stangeland Gruppen.
In the beginning Trygve Stangeland let out excavators to large clients such as Røldal Suldal Kraft A/S, Betongbygg (for the construction of a refinery in Risavika), municipalities and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen). As the region’s oil industry started to grow, so did Stangeland Maskin AS. The turnover went straight up, equipment and machinery was bought, and eventually administrative personnel such as technicians and engineers were hired.
Assignments were queuing up in relation to the development of oil bases Norsco Tananger and Dusavik, and large earthwork projects for Norwegian Contractors in connection to “dry dock” for concrete platforms.
Stangeland Maskin AS continued to expand, and when oil companies were establish in the area, our firm did the ground work for most of them, including Statoil, Shell, Conoco, Phillips, BP, Saga, Norsk Hydro, Esso and Smedvig. To date, the expansion rate has been incredibly high.
Infrastructure in relation to residential and commercial building has been a big part of the firm’s portfolio. We’ve had projects involving roads, railways, ports, airports, water/plants and broadband/gas/electric heating. Purification of masses has also become part of our work.
We participated in the building of the underwater tunnel, Rennfast. And currently we are working in a joint venture with Implenia on the Eiganestunnel-project, which is a big part of the Ryfast-project.
Stangeland has gained considerable experience in building wind mill parks. Currently we are working on Tellenes wind mill farm, and we have also contributed on the building of Røymyra wind mill farm and Midtfjellet wind mill park.
Stangeland Maskin AS has a turnover of 1.3 billion NOK. Stangeland Group AS has a turnover of 1.7 billion NOK. This makes us one of the largest contractor in Rogaland.
